Held
in the parking lot of Mike's Famous Harleys - New Castle Delaware
has seen a lot of micro sized containers appear in caches during
2006. So why not a Micro Event? This Event was listed on geocaching.com
in late November. Its name was a big clue as
to where it was to be held but the listing showed its host
as "Famous Mike". Those who clicked the profile discovered
that Famous Mike looked a lot like Mike Ott.
There
were two big challenges to this Event. The first was to to
get there while the event was still happening. Why was this
a challenge? The Event was listed as running from 11:30 AM
to 11:31 AM. That's
right, the Micro Event was to be 1 minute long! The second
challenge was to find the spot where the event was happening
during the allotted time limit. As seen in the gallery below
more than a dozen people did.
Many
of these folks got to the spot well ahead of the starting time
but there were a few who just made it. At the appointed starting
time host Mike Ott produced a bottle of champagne and distributed
thimble sized cups. The bottle was uncorked; everyone got a
thimble full, and a toast was raised. With that the time
was up and the Event was over. This Micro
Event was a perfect holiday kickoff. Everyone was in great spirits!
Like
all good geocaching events, though, geocachers stayed and
socialized. And, like all good geocaching events geocachers
banded into groups and
set of for a day of geocaching. We hear one group stayed
at it until midnight that night!
During
the event Mary of the Maxiam team captured the photos that
have become this photo gallery. That explains why she doesn't
appear
in any of the pictures. If anyone else who attended has photos, contact
us, we have room for more.

note about the captions - if any one is misidentified or not
