Dover. As I stared at the weather maps with the rains and clouds
moving across the First State, I wondered how The Frog and Jennifer
were going to fare with this event. my ride arrived and we made
the hour long trip southward from PA. We passed through a few
showers along the way and were all speculating on if we would need the
rain gear we brought along.
As we arrived at the coordinates, we were relieved to have it cloudy,
but not raining!! We spotted the cachers milling about and went
to meet them. We traded stories and signed the log sheets and best of
all, caught up on some friends caching stories... At 1:00 Runfrog
called the Event to order and we began... FTF was handed out (an ammo
can) and then other prizes, a "light lunch" (candy)was handed out, then
it was time to head across the street for our group picture to
document all of us being there.
After the picture and more story trading... we gathered to answer the
"Vote for LSD" question. Garmin's and a Magellan were compared
for their time stamps. To our surprise, each of the GPSr's showed
different times. This is only a matter of a few seconds, not
worthy of a comment if someone is finding a business, car in the woods
or the way home. But if you're in the woods, looking for a small
cache, the "error" could throw the location off by a "few extra feet".
not much for an experienced cacher, but it could prove
interesting for a beginner. Which was more accurate? We decided
to leave it, as one of the great unknowns.... Use either
manufacturer's - both will help you to enjoy this Great Hobby!!!!!
Some of the participants met up afterword for lunch at "Where Pigs
Fly" for a great lunch.
Thanks again to all who helped with the event.. and thanks to
JenniferQp and Runfrog, for another chance to meet with our
friends!!!
