Travel Bug Race Rules This is an “honor system” race of Travel Bugs among friends and fellow cachers. To participate, please abide by the following: 1. You may enter up to two TB’s per person. 2. Geocoins may be entered also. ( enter up to 2 TB’s or 2 Coins or 1 TB and 1 Coin) 3. All TB’s must be trackable @ www.geocaching.com with Zero miles on them. 4. All TB’s/Geocoins will have their info sheet attached. (This will help finders know the mission before taking the TB’s/Geocoins) 5. All Travel Bugs must be registered by May 16, 2009 (at the event) 6. All transportation of the Travel Bug is to occur naturally. Ideally one cacher will move the racer to a cache where another cacher will pick it up and repeat the process. 6a. The Travel Bug Racer is required to physically visit geocaches and be hand carried by a cacher. 6b. Once your TB’s are launched the owner cannot retrieve it and move it again. 6c. The TB’s may only be moved once per cacher. 6d. The TB’s may not travel via “snail mail” or any other mailing services. 7. Participants of this Race may not move or impede the progress of any competitor’s bugs. 8. Participants of this Race may not create sock puppet accounts in order to move their own bug. There are no hand-offs allowed. Movement of a racer by a participant's spouse, child, parent or co-worker is strictly prohibited. 9. The TravelBug/Geocoin’s Page on GC.com must state that it is a participant in the (First State 2009 TB Race) and have a photo of the TB. 10. All decisions will be made by the First State 2009 TB Race Committee. 11. All TB’s/Geocoins must be present and “Check In” at the FSC 2009 Event (GC1P2H). Note that if the owners can not be present at the event, Please make arrangements to have your travel bug present at the event. 12. At the end of the event, the owners can collect their own TB/Geocoin racers and place them in a cache of their choosing in Delaware as quickly as possible. 13. Race starts 5/16/2009 and ends midnight on 5/16/2010. 14. Due to the difficulty in determining if a Travel Bug has gone missing, the racers are not allowed to be re-launched with a COPY tag or other copy of the tracking number. 16. Violations of any of the rules will result in a disqualification of the offending owner’s Travel Bug Racer. When a Travel Bug is disqualified by the Judges it is out of the competition. Period. There are no appeals. 16. Only one award will be given per TB/Geocoin entered Registration To register your travel bug, please Click Here ~ This will bring you to the registration form. An e-mail window will open - just click “Send” and it will forward your information to us. Or - e-mail the following to: Registration . In the subject field enter” First State 2009 TB Race” · Your Full Name · Your Geocaching Handle • Travel Bug Name · Travel Bug Reference # - Note: this is not the # on the tag, it is the “TB” number found at the top of the “Travel Bug page” (NOT the Blue Number) Verification of Registration Once I receive your completed registration request, I will email you that it has arrived and instructions of what to do with your TB’s/Geocoins entered TB’s/Geocoins Info Sheet You can print an info sheet to attach and send along the journey with your travel bug. In the upper right box of the TB’s/Geocoins page called (Trackable Item Options) simply click on the item “Print info Sheet” You may want to also state on your info sheet: This Travel Bug is participating in a TB/Geocoin race. It is trying to travel from cache to cache as quickly as possible in order to accumulate miles in the First State 2009 Travel Bug Race. Please try to move this along as quickly as you can and do not place it in caches with a high difficulty or terrain rating. This Travel Bug may only be moved ONCE by any Geocacher. This race is on-going from 5/16/09- 5/16/10. Thank you for your help. Travel Bug/Geocoin Requirements The TB/Coin used to race must be trackable at www.Geocaching.com The TB/Coin used to race must have Zero miles and never been placed in anything. You may enter up to 2 TB’s or 2 Coins or 1 TB and 1 Coin. Each TB/Geocoin entered is required to have it’s info sheet attached DO NOT log your TB/Geocoin racer into the event!!! |
